Pastine
Cement-paste tiles, also called cementine or pastine, according to the way they are built, are divided in two types:
- Unicolors, in single color;
- Decoarated, in which different colors are mixed to create designs and motives, obtaining elegants flooring.
Tiles are produced in the following formats and sizes: squared 20 x 20 cm, 25 x 25 cm, 34 x 34 cm and exhagonal with h 20 and 25 cm, with a 2,5 cm thick. Tiles are composed by two compressed layers: the first layer consists of a mixture of differently coloured softer cement (cement-paste) and river's sand, that is finely sleved, up to 1 cm in thickness. The second layer is a strong concrete with select inert matters, and it is about 1.7 cm thick.
The cementine tiles are produced using the traditional technicque, handmade one by one, process includes hydraulic compression, stocked in composite boxes and afterwards submerged in water and left to season in dry rooms.
Due to the typical production process, cement tiles can't be perfect, they are unique and might differ from each other:
- light color variation;
- micro-fissures on sides;
- non perfect corners;
- light white glazing
Available tile types
Cement tiles are available in the following types:
- Single Decoration
- Carpets
- Borders
- Unicolors
Single Decoration
Exclusive single decoration tiles in which the design is in a single tile. Generally is used in the central part of a room.
Carpets
Used in the central part of the room, the design is composed across four tiles.
Borders
Used to close the central part of a flooring, available in flower and geometric versions.
Unicolors
Can be used to close the central part of a decorated flooring, composed by a border and a carpet; can be placed as chessboard, alternated with single decoration or another unicolor tile in the central part of the flooring, otherwise can be used in the central part of the flooring in a color other than the one used in the external part of the flooring.
